We acknowledge that the term "classical music" is somewhat porous. While this sub is not limited to Western classical music — there is no reason not to discuss other classical traditions here - that is currently its main focus. Contemporary music strongly influenced by classical traditions is also entirely appropriate to discuss. Popular music with significant classical influences is also welcome provided that the clear purpose is to consider that music thoughtfully in the context of classical traditions.

Beyond those cases, most popular musical genres are better discussed elsewhere and will be removed from this subreddit as soon as we see them. Nov 29,  · Canadian pianist Glenn Gould first became famous for his daring interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations on his debut album with Columbia. A newbie listener here. What makes Glenn Gould's Bach so different? And why is it that the general views are so polarised? I am a big fan of late baroque contrapuntal pieces and thus a big lover of Bach. Of the recordings I have heard so far, I have always found Glenn Gould's to be the most interesting. Not sure if what I am hearing is right.
